Every semester (Fall/Spring), each participating student’s parent is asked to assist with one to two classes. As you register, please email Emma (estoetzel12@gmail.com) with which month or two you’d be available to help out. You are not expected to have anything prepared, just be available to help distribute materials to kids and lend a hand during the class.

October Farmschool
ANIMAL HUSBANDRY: Field Trip to Wengers Horse Farm
This special field trip gives students an up-close look at caring for horses. They’ll learn about feeding, grooming, and the daily responsibilities of animal care while gaining appreciation for the bond between humans and animals.
Please note this is on the 2nd Friday instead of the 1st.
Ages: 4-12

November Farmschool
LIFE SKILL: SEWING
This class introduces the timeless skill of sewing.
Children will practice simple stitches and explore creative ways to use fabric, learning both the practical and artistic sides of this craft. (Final project details to come!)

December Farmschool
IN THE KITCHEN: BREAD MAKING
We’ll dive into the history and tradition of breadmaking, comparing sourdough and yeast breads. Students will see, smell, and taste the difference while learning when and why to use each method—and even try their hand at making dough!

FOOD PRESERVATION: FERMENTATION
Children will discover the magic of fermentation!
We’ll learn how simple foods like vegetables can be transformed into sauerkraut, pickles, and more—while also exploring why fermented foods are good for our health.

In this workshop we will be trying our hands at some essential sewing skills.
There will be age appropriate activities for all students!

October Farmschool
Come learn how to make dairy products at home!
In this workshop we will show you how to make mozzarella and butter!
Take home these homestead skills and enjoy your very own handmade dairy products.
2024-2025 Farmschool
"What it's like to work on a farm" day! Students will be learning about how we do chores, the equipment we use, meet all the animals, and get to feed them with us.
We will also have new piglets and puppies to snuggle!

BeeKeeping with RC’s Bees
Join us for a fun morning learning all about bees! We will Rayann from RC’s Bees with us and will get to ask all our questions, try some local honey, make our own beeswax candles, and more!

Chicken Processing Workshop
Join us for an informative and hands-on Chicken Processing Workshop at RR Homestead! Learn the essential skills of humane and efficient chicken processing, from start to finish. Our experienced instructors will guide you through each step, ensuring you leave with confidence and knowledge.

Strawberry Jam Workshop
Come learn how to make strawberry freezer jam, AND can it! You will get to take home your own freezer jam, so be sure to bring a small container.

FAMILY DAY - VISIT THE FARM

RR Homestead is hosting a family day to get to know our community better! We will have vendors, food, Non-Dairy soft serve ice cream, $1 raffles, fun games and crafts, horseback riding, puppy and piglet snuggles, and a farm tour!
